Al Maha, Shell or Oman Oil? Which Petrol Station Do you Prefer?

In Oman we do have three petrol stations Al Maha, Shell or Oman Oil. I made a research asking people which petrol station do you prefer of the three in Sultanate of Oman which are 1) Al Maha, 2) Shell & Oman Oil?

The idea started during the period I need to write about something in my blog and could not find one. Once I reached one of the petrol stations to fill patrol why don’t I write about which petrol station do people prefer.

During my research I meet people face to face from different ages, nationalities and genders. Furthermore, I had used the online social media which are www.facebook.com and www.linkedin.com. The online tools were useful for collecting information.

So, what do you think? Is it Al Maha, Shell or Oman Oil? I had asked 112 people during my research.
Shell was the number one in my survey. It had reached 43%. Second was Oman Oil which is 26%. Third was Al Maha which is 11%.

The remaining percentage was as following: some participates had replied to me that there is no difference. They had replied back to me that whatever comes first to the road we do stop and fill petrol. The people who replied to me with this answer are 18%. Others had selected 2 companies together.

I had asked them whenever they selected why have you selected the petrol station? It was the only question after selecting the petrol station.

They are many reasons selecting the companies which include but not limited to:
  1. Omani Company
  2. Accepted Bank Muscat debit card
  3. Availability
  4. Basma Cards
  5. Getting petrol station card from their company
  6. Customer Service
  7. Color of logo attracts them
  8. Feeling it is the best
  9. International Company
  10. Location
  11. Loyalty
  12. Quality of Petrol
  13. Having shares of the company in Muscat Security Market
  14. Oldest one in the market
  15. Ahlain
  16. Select
  17. & many other reasons

Some had replied, “Just like that”. Some said, “All of them are poor”

The most three important factors that been mentioned during the survey are: Quality of Petrol, Customer Service & Availability.

29 responded with the answer Quality of Petrol is important factor to them. Among the 29, 16 had responded that Shell provides better quality of petorl, 9 had selected Oman Oil and 4 Al Maha.

22 responded with the answer customer service is important factor to them. Among the 22, 11 had responded that Oman Oil provides better customer service, 9 had selected Shell and 2 Al Maha.

11 responded with the answer availability is important to them. Among the 11, 9 had responded that Shell provides better availability and 2 had selected Al Maha.
